Chinese lesson

How many Chinese characters are there altogether? there are 50,000 characters.

How many characters does an educated person know? an educated character knows about 8,000 characters.

How old are Chinese characters? They are thousands of years old.

Why are some Chinese characters called pictographs? because some of them are pictures not letters.
What 2 characters join together to make ‘good’? 好 Hǎo. 

What 2 characters join together to make ‘television’? this is what television looks like 电视 Diànshì.

1.  All the red match stick represents people and the green represents a person that stand out that could get bullied. Because there are 9 red stick and the green is the only green stick.

2. What was the key event from the news article? People not wearing life jackets.

4. Why did this event happen? Because the 8 people on the boat didn't wear life jackets. 


1. Find a quote from the main person in this news article?  People fined were seen putting their life jackets on only as the entered the harbour in the hope to not get caught.
2. In your own words describe what happened in this news article. 8 people were seen putting their life jacket on just as they entered the Hawks Bay Harbour the 8 people got fined $300 dollars each for not wearing a life jacket.

NFC Tags


a) Research and find 5 facts about NFC tags (what they are, how they work, where they are being used etc). Write up the 5 facts in your post.

Its an application of RFID the wireless technology stop shoplifters.

NFC tags are considered passive devices which means that they operate without a power supply of their own.

12 years a slave


12 Years a Slave is a very sad and emotional and was directed by Steve McQueen and produced by Brad Pitt. he lived with his family in new york in 1841 . The white people didn’t treat the black people very nicely and all the slaves were repeatedly beaten and hit. The movie is based on a true extraordinary true story . A African American called Solomon Northup,  he was kidnapped and sold into slavery. He worked as a slave for 12 years before he was released . 12 years a slave was named best film of the year by several media outlets. the movie was sold to box office and clammed lots of money.  The slaves must pick at least 200 pounds of cotton every day or then are beaten with whips. He was an excellent violin player. They were also chained up.

Camp advice

1. DON'T TRIP OVER IN THE RABBIT RUN.
2. Don't ever take your mask off in paintball.
3. Make sure to wear lots of layers in paintball.
4. DON'T BE THE EATER IN CLASH OF CAMPS.
5. Don't be scared in the bivouacs because it is very fun.
6. Bring a towel on the tramp because you can go for a swim.
7. Try out all the things at camp.
